Center for Empowerment Ethiopia Association (CEE)

Background

The Center for Empowerment Ethiopia (CEE) is a registered Ethiopian non-profit organization committed to fostering equitable and sustainable development. Formally established under the Civil Societies Proclamation No. 1113/2019, we are proudly authorized by the Authority for Civil Society Organizations with registry number 6213.

Our foundation is built on the belief that sustainable change is achieved by empowering individuals and communities to become the primary agents of their own development. We focus on addressing the root causes of vulnerability by implementing integrated interventions in key thematic areas: women’s economic empowerment, climate-resilient food security, human rights protection, and community-led infrastructure development.

CEE works collaboratively with local communities, government bodies, and international partners to design and deliver impactful programs. From training women farmers in climate-smart agriculture to supporting marginalized groups in claiming their rights and fostering social cohesion, our work is characterized by a participatory approach that builds local capacity and ensures lasting results. We are dedicated to creating a future where all Ethiopians, especially women and marginalized communities, have the opportunity to thrive in a just and prosperous society.

The organization’s impactful work is supported by prominent donors, including:

  • National Endowment for Democracy (NED)
  • Women Win
  • EthiopiAid
  • CJIFA
  • National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE)
  • Civil Society Support Program Two (CSSP2) under the British Council

With the support of these partners, CEE has successfully delivered numerous projects targeting democracy promotion, human rights protection, and peacebuilding, particularly in the Southwestern Region of Ethiopia and other southern regions.

CEE plays a pivotal role in advancing sustainable peace and human rights by:

  • Developing and monitoring human rights situations to ensure accountability and compliance.
  • Implementing strategies that promote peace, security, and stability.
  • Monitoring the implementation of agreements related to human rights and conflict resolution.
  • Providing evidence-based recommendations and actionable information to policymakers, human rights organizations, and advocacy groups.

With a steadfast commitment to creating a more equitable and democratic society, CEE continues to empower marginalized communities, enhance governance, and build pathways for sustainable development and peace.
